Our Story
CAARS, a Camrose animal rescue nonprofit, was born after seeing a critical need in our community for pet rescue amid the pandemic in 2020. We began with feral and semi-feral cat rescue in Camrose, and in 2022, expanded to include dog adoption and puppy rescue services! Our original goal was to help the feral colonies in Camrose, but CAARS has since become a hub for animal welfare in Alberta.
We are strictly Volunteer-run; we are a registered nonprofit animal rescue in Canada with the government of Canada, but we cannot issue receipts at this time.
Who we are:
- A foster-home-based animal rescue in Alberta, meaning we do not have a shelter space and rely on our wonderful foster families for help in caring for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.
- Volunteer-run registered nonprofit animal rescue organization.
- Community helpers serving Camrose, Camrose County, Leduc County, Strathcona, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Bawlf, Bashaw, and surrounding areas with dedicated animal rescue services.
Thanks to your support, we've helped hundreds of animals find loving homes!
